New Year’s Resolutions for 2008

Here are my new year’s resolutions for the year 2008:

1. Maintain and intensify exercise routine.
I had the same resolution last time but never thought it would include going to the gym at the time I made it. Going to the gym is now part of my lifestyle, and the goal is to ensure that it remains that way. If I don’t go to the gym, I want to make sure I get in a session on the treadmill in the house. I plan to resume sessions with the personal trainer at the gym and try to diversify my exercise routines.

2. Lose significant weight.
This is a perennial resolution that I make. I made some good progress this year, thanks to going to the gym. But I hope to do even more next year and try to reach a normal weight level by the end of the year.

3. Read more books.
This is a new resolution for 2008. It’s not that I don’t read at all. I read stuff on the Internet all the time, and I look at magazines from time to time. It’s just that I haven’t had a chance to just sit down and read a good book. I’ll try to make a better effort to do so, even if I struggle through and read only one chapter a day.

4. Reduce clutter in the house.
This is another perennial resolution that I still need to make. The basement is better than it has been, but we can reduce the clutter a little further. I hope to have a big spring cleanup this time around.

5. Rip MP3 tracks from CD collection and load into iPod.
I always thought I would go through my CD collection and rip tracks into the PC for a future iPod load. It turns out that the iPod arrived before the project was completed. Now I have some motivation to finish the ripping project faster.

6. Attend 25th high school reunion in Los Angeles.
I don’t know if I should put this as a resolution. A lot of things have to fall into place in order for me to be able to make the trip to Los Angeles for my high school class’ 25th year reunion. It would help a lot if a date was determined so that I can try to make plans.

7. Scan old pictures, slides and negatives into computer.
This was one resolution from last year that I did not accomplish, at least not in a significant way. I have a few trays of slides that I had hoped to digitize this year, but I was too busy with other things. I hope to have time to do this.

8. Look for a new job.
I hope to end the year in a different office than where I am now. I plan to apply for every position in my office for which I am eligible for, whether it results in a position or is just a lateral transfer. I hope to be able to get some interviews, and I hope to get at least one offer for a new position.

With hard work and some, but not too much, luck, I hope to accomplish all of my New Year’s resolutions I have set for myself in 2008.
